Main Event.

After the small sounds of static can be overheard on each and every television set around the world, we can hear a voice in the background. It’s a low tone of voice, but it has that real raspy aggression we are used to hearing from the one and only Monarch himself.

Axel Shaw: I have given them everything for this industry—my blood, my sweat, and my tears and this is exactly what they want. Since I returned to ECE and made the promise to destroy everything in my sights, I have followed through with those intentions without any doubt. I have heard and seen that latest Ricky Vegas segment, and may I say kindly, what the fuck was that? You spoke so highly of yourself, like you were some kind of god in wrestling. May I remind you, Rick, that you are and will always be nothing more than an average professional wrestler? To even fathom that you believe in your own mind that we are on the same level is nothing more than a reach. I will sit back and gladly wait for you to show me how much better you are, Ricky.

I AM WAITING...

Axel Shaw: Exactly... Just like I thought, you are always quick to speak your mind but severely lacking in delivery. It’s alright to make claims and spew toxicity out of your mouth, but what’s not alright is thinking you have the ability to keep up inside that ring. Confidence and style will only get you so far in wrestling, but at what point do you realize?

THIS NIGHT DOESN’T BELONG TO YOU.

At the moment he finished speaking, the picture on the film had begun to fade into the scene, giving us clear vision that it was indeed Axel Shaw speaking. With a smirk on his face, you could see him standing in a dark area with a cathedral behind him in the distance. He was not standing alone, as we could see his wife, Skylar, beside him. As the both of them proceed down the dirt trail, they hear the crunching of the sand and gravel underneath their boots. Walking towards their destination, they are in mid-conversation, as we can overhear Skylar speaking.

Skylar Payten: Are you sure this is a good idea, babe?

She had asked him in a soft tone, as she looked frightened being where they were and all, but continued to walk beside him. Reaching her hand out, she grabbed him, wrapping her fingers tightly around him and making a fist between the two of them. With a smile on his face, he pleaded his case for why he needed to be there at that exact time.

Axel Shaw: We have nothing to fear, hun. Just trust me. I wouldn’t put us in any harm or danger just to prove a point, but this is what he has forced me to do. If he had just kept his mouth shut and not spewed his mind without repercussions, we wouldn’t have to be here right now. Ricky Vegas opened a can of worms that I am not sure he was expecting, and now he needs to handle his business.

Reaching the end of the path they were walking on, they turn to the left and continue walking as she responds to Axel. Her fist clenched tighter as they walked inside the plot of land surrounded by a steel fence. On a sign they pass while walking, it reads "CEMETERY" giving the viewers a small clue as to where they were.

Skylar Payten: I know he was quick to pass judgment and open his mouth way too soon, but do you really think this is going to prove anything? I want you to know I stand beside you in faith and support, but this place is creeping me the fuck out, babe.

They both continued to walk side-by-side, with her closing her eyes from time-to-time as fear set in, but she forced herself to keep moving forward. He wasn’t phased, as he had been in a cemetery many times before and didn’t believe in the afterlife. He turned his head towards her and continued to speak to her as they were walking deeper.

Axel Shaw: It’s all about the scenery, hun, trust me. I want Ricky Vegas to understand that when he speaks, there are negative effects to everything he says and does. He wanted to speak about me being boring or having a boring personality. How is this for spontaneous adventures, Ricky? I am standing in the very place I will leave your career after we are done inside that ring on X-Rated. How about that?

You could see the slight evil and sharp mind that Axel Shaw had in the past slowly coming out with his passive aggressive nature. Even though he was long past that stage in his career, that side of him still exists, just without the demons that were hindering his performance and mind. Reaching the end of the cemetery path, he finally stumbled upon the empty plot that he was seeking when he spoke to Payten.

Axel Shaw: This is exactly what we came for, babe.

She was slightly confused at this time, as she was still unsure what this had to do with professional wrestling and his match at X-Rated, but she went along with it. After a few mere moments of dead silence, she began to speak to him.

Skylar Payten: If this is something you feel needs to be done to prove a point, then so be it. Just next time, though, you need to warn me where we are going. I wore my good boots so we could take this journey, and now they are full of dust and sand. When we get home, you are going to be responsible for washing them for me because this is your fault.

Reaching his hand up to his shoulder, he slid the backpack off his back and threw it to the ground directly in front of him. He unzipped the back slowly as she gasped for air in shock, unaware of what had been in there this whole time. Pulling out a small, extendable metal shovel from the bag, he extended it to full length as she interrupted him.

Skylar Payten:No, babe... We can’t do this.

She pleaded with him as he took a giant swing, crashing the metal shovel into the dirt. We can hear loose rocks banging off the shovel. After a good five or six giant swings of the shovel inside the dirt, we could hear him laughing as he said it to her.

Axel Shaw: It’s already too late now to turn back, and we must go forward with my actions and expectations to prove this isn’t a joke.

She was still a little hesitant, but she watched and waited as he continued digging his hole. He knew that the standard was six feet deep but also knew it would take him way too damn long and burn out all his stamina, so he stopped around six inches but was about two feet wide. Throwing down the shovel, making a thundering noise that echoed throughout the night. He reached back down into his backpack, where he pulled out a vest from inside it. This wasn’t just any typical vest; it was a black leather one that had the word "VEGAS" spray painted in green along the left side. He chuckled as he gripped the vest tightly in his hand before tossing it into the hole. The vest fluttered to the bottom of the hole in slow motion before he spoke in a very aggressive tone.

Axel Shaw: This is where the fun and games come to a halt and we speak about the truth that the world is dying to hear. You are simply not that guy who will walk away with a victory at X-rated. I know that’s tough to hear, isn’t it? You may think differently, but let me explain something to you and hear me out before you go into a rage of fury. Everything you have done here in ECE leads to nothing if you can’t leap that final ledge that is holding you back. I know you feel like you have the power and wits to do anything here in this company, but I know what’s missing. I was once in your shoes. I had everything going in the right direction but lacked the ability to improve on my mistakes. I kept repeating the same tactics and attempting the same fight, only to get the same results. I have studied and changed, and now I have become a better person, fighter, and wrestler. I know in time you will figure this out, but until you do, you will see how much it hinders your advancement in an organization like this. The good news is that I pray for the weak and use them as just a training exercise until I meet my next big match. You understand where I am going with this, right? I am telling you that this match is just a warm-up for me; it's not even a challenge or difficult by any means at all.

CHILD’S PLAY

Reaching back down into the backpack, he pulls out a box, but what’s inside the box? As we inspect it closer, we see it’s a fake contact lens. We knew right then and there that he had shifted his focus to Grimmstone, who is another superstar featured on the losing side of the match come X-Rated. With Skylar now standing beside him, he continues to speak well, and she nods her head in agreement.

Axel Shaw: It always sounds better when you try to make yourself sound smart by using phrases like "Who would have thought a stone could do so much damage ". What you failed to realize is that you should never throw stones if you live in a glass house. If the flaws are evident on both sides, you should not be quick to point them out or criticize your opponent. It doesn’t matter how much encrypted speech you may influence inside your promo; it doesn’t amount to anything unless you are willing to sacrifice everything to get to the top. Not once did you mention my name; you only focused on TJ Alexander and Crush, and that is where you slipped and stumbled. I will allow you to create tunnel vision, keep them as your main focal point, and strike when you least expect it. When you are busy worrying about them, I will slide out of nowhere and one "BROKEN AXEL" will render you lifeless. Well, you are lying belly up on that mat, dazed and confused. I am sure someone will tell you later on that Axel Shaw just rocked your entire world.

STATEMENT FROM THE MONARCH.

He reached forward and tossed the box of contact lenses inside the hole along with the Ricky Vegas vest, a giant smirk breaking out on his face. When they land on the vest and make a sound, he is interrupted by Skylar, who is becoming impatient now.

Skylar Payten: Babe, are you almost done? This is taking far too long, and I want to go home now.

She was frustrated with him, but he was so close to accomplishing what he had set out to do on this fateful night. He reached down one last time into the backpack and pulled out one more unique item from it. By doing simple math and calculations, we can only be left with one, as Ronnie Styles was the last remaining person. Reaching his right hand in, he pulled out what seemed to be a Polaroid instant picture, but it didn’t have Ronnie Styles featured on it. Upon closer inspection, we familiarize ourselves with the fact that it has Martin Woodall on it. With his smirk becoming more of a mischievous chuckle, he continues to speak.

Axel Shaw: We all need that ride-or-die best friend who, no matter what happens, will stay by our side and be loyal to the end, right? Martin has always believed in you and, no matter the circumstances, has trusted your judgments. When you joined The Enterprise, he, just like always, was attached to your hip and was brought in as well. One day this old, feeble man will come to the realization that the time he has wasted cheering for you has been all for nothing. When was the last time you won a match, Ronnie? It seems like it’s been forever. It’s just such a shame you will have to ride the storm and wait this one out a little bit longer. I want you to understand that it pains me one more time that you have to suffer another defeat at my hands. Years ago, you had promised to be a breakout superstar, and that was just flushed down the toilet. The endless opportunities and chances the wrestling world gave you led to nothing more than a lie. You had the chance to shake the cobwebs and come out swinging the last time you faced me. Remember when you and Real Deal had the chance to finish the job for PG before Ring of Dreams. Just like before, the two of you came up short with no answers to PG, which, may I add, led to his defeat at Ring of Dreams.

THAT’S BECAUSE OF YOU.

This time he doesn’t throw the picture into the hole with the rest of the items, as he opens his eyes wide and takes a deep gaze at Martin Woodall. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a red marker and twisted the cap off it. Before you know it, he draws two red "X’s" over the eyes with an arrogant smirk on his face. After he does that, he now throws the picture and the red marker inside the hole. Reaching down, he grabbed the shovel and began filling the hole with some of the loose dirt that he had dug up earlier. As he places the last bit of dirt inside the hole, we hear Payten ask another question.

Skylar Payten: That’s it, right, babe? We can go home now. I am totally over being here right now.

Packing up the shovel back inside the backpack, he knew she was right; it was getting late and he needed to tie up a few loose ends before he headed into X-Rated. Swinging the backpack only containing the metal shovel back over his shoulder, he grabbed her hand and began walking off into the distance, leaving us with just one more thing before disappearing into the mist of the night.

EVERYTHING WILL COME TO AN END ON THAT ONE NIGHT.

THE END.
