Main Event.

The sound of Axel Shaw fading into the television screen is overheard as he speaks in a lower tone that rises as he speaks.

Axel Shaw → The last chapter is among us.

Nothing but radio silence followed that sentence for at least a few minutes before he continued.

Axel Shaw → I have scratched and clawed my way up the entire faction, leaving us just one superstar left to defeat. Sean Matthews has been a superstar I have been watching and waiting for for quite some time now. Slowly, you have been getting opportunities to take down the empire that our Heavyweight Champion Crush has built, and those attempts have come up just a little short. It must really feel amazing to get the chances your boss and leader think you deserve in this company. You hear me, PG?

Another pause is initiated, allowing the people watching to process exactly what Axel Shaw is speaking about. With his eyes focused directly in the middle of the camera and an overly excited smirk upon his face, he continued to speak directly to these individuals.

Axel Shaw → It must be painful to sit backstage and watch the troops, one by one, get the chances you only expected. Week after week, I hear you speaking and complaining about your role within the company. May I remind you what happened at the Ring of Dreams? We all know what happened. It won't be long before we meet again, and expect to see the same false sense of hope you did last time.

The lights flicker on in the room, and the colour emerges onto the television to see Axel Shaw sitting in front of the fireplace in his living room. Sitting facing the camera with his back towards the flames and heat that are being admitted.

Axel Shaw → You see, they always say that when you play with fire, it’s just a matter of time until someone gets burned. I have witnessed with both my eyes and physically how much you have complained since losing PG. Not to mention, coming and interrupting me inside my ring when I am speaking is a mistake.

Grabbing a metal pole, he opens the gate of the fireplace and places it inside, moving some of the wooden logs around as it sizzles. You can see the smoke and heat rising inside the room as he has a grin on his face.

Axel Shaw → It’s cool how the flames are unpredictable, don’t you think? Sean Matthews, to me, is a very fascinating individual. Last show, you beat TJ Alexander...

Slowly clapping his hands together as he bursts out in chuckles.

Axel Shaw → Do you really think that puts you on a different level, let alone planet, than the rest of us? I have been tearing each and every opponent to shreds inside the wrestling ring without any hesitation or regrets. I want to like you, Matthews I really do, but I can’t look past the fact that you align yourself with that backstabbing liar. If he had it his way, you wouldn’t even have a chance to wrestle the likes of myself or Crush because then you would be taking away from his spotlight.

Winking with his left eye into the camera, hinting about when PG tried to claim Axel was stealing his spotlight, which he gratefully deserved.

Axel Shaw → I know you think you are the terminator, Sean, but I am not a robot. I am two hundred and twenty pounds of human flesh with two feet and a heartbeat. When I look at you, I am not threatened or fearful because I have beaten many superstars who are better.

Skylar entered the living room, hearing his last words into the camera as she walked over and handed him a glass.

Skylar Payten → I brought you a glass of wine, babe.

He reached his hand out and took the wine glass from her. With a smile on his face, he replied to her.

Axel Shaw → Thank you.

She sat next to him like she usually does and jumped into the conversation she was overhearing from the kitchen.

Skylar Payten → The Enterprise again, babe? Don’t these guys have better things to do than stick their noses inside our business? Hopefully it’s not that loser Real Deal again this time, right?

She asked with such conviction that the sight of Axel Shaw defeating Real Deal not only once but a second time would just begin to get embarrassing. He shook his head in disagreement to signal that she was wrong as he continued to speak.

Axel Shaw → This time it’s Sean Matthews...

She smirked when he said it.

Skylar Payten → Is this the last of the stable they can throw at you, hoping to finally gain some sort of traction?

It was a good question since The Enterprise keeps throwing troop after troop to see if anyone can come back with good news to unclench Michael Hill’s buttcheeks. From what has been going around backstage, the agent himself hasn’t been satisfied with the way things have been progressing inside the company.

Axel Shaw → Eventually they are going to run out of options and have to look for other ways they can overcome the odds. I can just imagine now in my head how the conversation is going backstage between Hill and the group. Let me explain.

Michael Hill → How is it possible you guys are letting Axel Shaw, of all people, win matches against the biggest and baddest stable this company has ever seen?

Sean Mathhews → I haven’t lost to him yet, boss.

Michael Hill → You are correct, my client, so you better do something special to defeat The Monarch and eliminate him for good. If he walks into Dead End 2 and PG has to deal with him again, things will be different this time.

Real Deal → But boss, he got lucky against me not once but twice; didn’t you see that?

Michael Hill → You couldn’t be more blind, could you? Stop flexing your muscles in the corner, Ronnie, since you couldn’t get it done either.

Ronnie Styles → I have a cold. It must have been the cough medicine throwing off my performance. I guarantee that if he faced me on a day I was feeling better, he wouldn’t have walked away with a victory.

Michael Hill → You and that old sidekick you drag along to the ring with you?

Ronnie Styles → Martin has good qualities and experience inside that ring.

By now, both Axel Shaw and Skylar Payten are chuckling like kids learning sexual education in preschool. He finishes mocking the stable in his own version of the story which he imagines is how every corporate meeting they have goes, and he continues to speak.

Axel Shaw → The best part of that story is that PG wouldn’t speak a word; he would sit in the corner of his locker room like he always does. The mad grin on his face and grinding his teeth in anger, not to mention both hands balled up in fists.

Taking a sip of his red wine, which tastes like a million dollars, he swishes it around in his mouth a few times before he drinks it. With the wine in his stomach and the mood easy, he speaks with passion into the camera.

Axel Shaw → It would be hard to speak up for your own stable PG when you can’t give them any advice or motivation. I bet it would be easier if you managed to walk away from Ring of Dreams with a different result.

Skylar leaned over to Axel as he was speaking and whispered.

Skylar Payten → How’s the wine, babe?

Axel Shaw → It has a fine taste to it. It's not the most expensive wine, but it has good qualities. Just like myself, don’t you think?

Skylar Payten → What qualities would that have?

Axel Shaw → I may not be the flashiest superstar in the industry, but what I do inside that wrestling ring is something not many could do. When it comes time to produce and show heart and courage, I always step up to the plate. It doesn’t matter what pitcher The Enterprise wants to send to the plate or who is inside the bullpen warming up. I hit a homerun each and every single time I swing the bat. The question, though, still remains: does Sean Matthews have a pitch that can strike me out? or will he use the same sinker I was able to spot every other member using.

Sports chatter was confusing Skylar since he had not kept up with it, let alone baseball. Who watches baseball? She rolled her eyes at the conversation as she spoke.

Skylar Payten → This is wrestling, babe; it has nothing to do with baseball. Stay focused,

He was trailing off about a sport he once played as a teenager in high school, but he heard her pleas to get back on track.

Axel Shaw → You know baseball is next to my heart.

Skylar Payten → I know, but I don’t think Sean Matthews is throwing any balls at you; more like five knuckles.

She was right; he needed to remain focused on Sean Matthews since he knew he had to prove this one last time to the world.

Axel Shaw → Sure, even if he does throw a punch at me, it wouldn’t change the outcome, babe. I am a different breed of man when I step inside that wrestling ring and hear the tone of the bell. I have already proven I have the upper hand against The Enterprise. All I need to do is leap over this one last hurdle to solidify it. Matthews may have been in the heavyweight championship hunt as of recently, but that will come to a screeching halt soon enough. There are exactly two types of individuals in this business: the ones who hide cowardly, surrounded by other like minded wrestlers. No matter what happens, these guys leech off each other and watch their backs. You also have a guy like myself who rides solo, a lone wolf of sorts who does and takes what he wants.

Skylar Payten → Speaking of... What is it that we want?

Axel Shaw → We both know just as well as any other wrestler that I need to be back in the championship picture in the company. What's that going to take? I am glad the world wants to know. Once I defeat Sean Mathhews this week and follow that up with Dead End 2, then the world must know I stand alone on top. I have done nothing but look impressive since I returned and have kept every single promise I have made. Look at this list: Crush didn’t trust me, PG vowed to end me; Enterprise has been crumbling; and Dynasty respects me. It’s a lot of progress, I must say.

Skylar Payten → It's a bit of progress for sure, babe, but when will it end? When will all this hard work pay off? As your valet, I have looked up and down this roster, and no one has had an impressive streak like this in recent years. I know Crush has always been at the top, but you deserve to be on that mountain just as much as he does.

She was beginning to get fired up, and she was also firing him up as she spoke with such high conviction towards her man. With a clear smirk on his face and his eyes lit up, he responded.

Axel Shaw → Patience is key, baby. I have heard rumblings that my time will be coming soon.

Both Skylar Payten and Axel Shaw raise their wine glasses in the air and clang them together, making a ringing sound that echoes across the room. At this exact moment in time, both of them burst out laughing as the scene faded.
